The Williams Residence needed an upgrade on the back patio. Years of weather and damaged tin roofing led to the deterioration of several panels. Water could be found dripping through several soft spots on the roof.
We started by removing the corrugated metal roofing, along with the damaged plywood panels. After removing the first section, we noticed how much light came through the opening and how it created a lovely ambiance.
We decided to leave the opening as a sun roof and install clear poly-carbonate roofing. After all the plywood was replaced we reinstalled the metal roofing using gasketed screws and then we sealed off the cracks and old nail holes using roofing tar.
The final touch was creating a shade system for those hot summer days. To accomplish this, we used spring coiled shades on a pulley system that would allow us to draw the shades individually.
In the end, Mrs. Williams loved her new sunroof, especially on those cool winter days and clear starry nights.
