In January of 2016 we were contacted by Mr. Allen to fix a concrete pillar which had been knocked over. We were able to salvage much of the pre-existing flagstone and reuse it for the rebuild along with some newer pieces.
We first took measurement of pillars that were still intact to get the proper dimensions. We then set ¼” rebar into the concrete footing and up into the pillar about 2’, to ensure that it would be much sturdier and more difficult to topple in the future.
The pillar itself is made from double wide cinderblocks stacked and mortared together. Then the decorative flagstone was mounted and mortared into place. Finally, the cracks were filled and grouted to give a nice clean finish.
